DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

Introduces the RN student to the nature of baccalaureate nursing education. Students participate in self assessment of strengths within the various professional nursing roles. Includes an overview of the curriculum concepts as applied to RN education and an introduction to nursing informatics as a tool for life long learning.

LOGIN ACCOUNTS 

Your SDSU shortname is your WebCT ID that you will use as your User name when you log on to WebCT. If you do not have your shortname, go to the JackRabbit Portal Page. Once you are there you will need to 

  1. enter your last name as it appears on your Student ID Card for your user name
    1. If your last name, as listed on the Student ID Card, has a "-," include that character. If your last name has spaces in it (such as a multi-word last name), type the name with no spaces.
  2. enter your 7-digit Colleague ID as your password (SDSU Colleague IDs begin with the number 3)

You will arrive at the agreement page and you must 

  1. check that it is your name at the bottom of the page in the Signed by line
  2. enter your birth date
  3. enter your permanent hometown of record with SDSU
  4. click on the Agree button

You will arrive at the page that has your SDSU shortname.

  1. copy your shortname and/or print the page
    1. typically, a shortname consists of the first 6 letters of your last name, the first initial of your first name, and a number from 0 to 9; there are, however, variations of this
  2. if you want a different password than your Colleague ID for this portal, enter your new password in the appropriate box and  enter your old password (Colleague ID) in the two appropriate boxes that follow. If you want to keep your Colleague ID as your password, simply enter your Colleague ID in each of the three password text boxes. 
  3. change your e-mail forwarding address if you want your e-mail forwarded to a different e-mail address than your MUSIC e-mail account. For example, you might want your mail to go to my-email@my-email.com. This is the e-mail address you should enter in the forwarding text box. You may leave the default address in the text box if you do not have another e-mail address.
  4. click on the Submit Changes button

If you have difficulty accessing your shortname, please contact the Computing Services Help Desk, 605-688-6776.

If you have difficulty accessing WebCT after you have followed the steps above, call your instructor.

LOGIN INSTRUCTIONS

To take the course, you must login to WebCT after clicking on the Go to Class link. You will be asked for your User Name and Password. Your WebCT User name is your shortname that you retrieved from the Jackrabbit portal site. Your initial WebCT Password is your 7-digit Colleague ID, which can be changed once you successfully log in to WebCT.

1. When you click on the Go to Class link, you will see the following screen.

2. Click on Log on to my WebCT and the following box will appear. Enter your User Name (shortname) and Password (7-digit Colleague ID). 


 

3. After you have entered your User Name and your Password (Password appears in asterisks) the dialog box should look similar to the following box. Click OK.


 

4. When you have successfully entered  Web CT, you will see a screen similar to the one below. Your name should appear after myWebCT at the top of the screen.
