Instructions for Student Teaching
Application
*The accuracy,
completeness, and neatness of your application may impact your
placement!
| Turn in:
1)
Preliminary application form
2) Five
Copies of the final application. This form must be word-processed.
Note: if you need additional boxes (cells) you may copy and paste the
section to add more space(usually applies to double majors, those who
have several endorsements, etc).
MAKE SURE
THE LAST PAGE OF THE APPLICATION IS YOUR STUDENT
PROFILE
3) Two
copies of the Sioux Falls application if you have selected Sioux Falls
as a student teaching site. If you apply in Sioux Falls you will also
need to turn in a portfolio. See Kristi Russow for details.

NOTE: You must
have a 2.5 CUM GPA or Grad. Ratio, a 2.6 in your major,
and a 2.6 in your education courses in order to student teach.
If you do not meet these requirements, you must go through the appeals
process.
Copies of your
application(s) must be returned to Kristi Russow (Wenona 204) by October
1 for spring placements, and February 10 for fall
placements. Copies of your application are sent to your major advisor
for approval to student teach and the school(s) in which you want to
student teach. Your University Supervisor receives a copy for your
PSIII file and the original is kept on permanent file. Special Methods
faculty must also approve you to student teach.
Placement for
PSIII
We will try to
place you at one of the schools you request, however this occasionally
is impossible. We place students within a 60 mile radius of Brookings.
You will be informed of your student teaching placement through your
PSII class or by mail.
