Instructions for Student Teaching Application

*The accuracy, completeness, and neatness of your application may impact your placement!

Turn in:

 1) Preliminary application form

2) Five Copies of the final application. This form must be word-processed. Note: if you need additional boxes (cells) you may copy and paste the section to add more space(usually applies to double majors, those who have several endorsements, etc).

MAKE SURE THE LAST PAGE OF THE APPLICATION IS YOUR STUDENT PROFILE

3) Two copies of the Sioux Falls application if you have selected Sioux Falls as a student teaching site. If you apply in Sioux Falls you will also need to turn in a portfolio. See Kristi Russow for details.

NOTE: You must have a 2.5 CUM GPA or Grad. Ratio, a  2.6 in your major, and a 2.6 in your education courses in order to student teach. If you do not meet these requirements, you must go through the appeals process.

Copies of your application(s) must be returned to Kristi Russow (Wenona 204) by October 1 for spring placements, and February 10 for fall placements. Copies of your application are sent to your major advisor for approval to student teach and the school(s) in which you want to student teach. Your University Supervisor receives a copy for your PSIII file and the original is kept on permanent file. Special Methods faculty must also approve you to student teach.

Placement for PSIII

We will try to place you at one of the schools you request, however this occasionally is impossible. We place students within a 60 mile radius of Brookings. You will be informed of your student teaching placement through your PSII class or by mail.
