General Information on Professional Semester I

Placement for PS I students will be with one or two teachers in a K-12 public school near to Brookings.  Students are required to observe and/or participate with teachers for 15 hours or class periods.  The PS I students are expected to maintain a log that documents their hours and their observations.  For guidelines on what students should include in their logs, check expectations with the professor teaching EdFn 338.

Brookings elementary, middle and high school teachers are sent requests for schedules to determine willingness and availability to work with students.  In 2000 we included Sioux Valley junior and senior high school teachers.  Students living out of town can request an additional school to do their field observations through the placement office.
