The Department of Teacher Education prepares students to teach in an academic major or other fields in which they have the appropriate content preparation.  Students complete the requirements for a B.S. or B.A. degree in an academic major before or while meeting the requirements for South Dakota Teacher Certification.

The Department of Teacher Education also houses Aviation Education and Career and Technical Education.
