Native American Elders 
Health Care Series

    Designed to enhance the health and well-being of elders of diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.

    Foster culturally appropriate or competent approaches that improve healthcare access and delivery.
     

    Designed to improve the health status of elderly Native Americans who experience a high rate of preventable acute and chronic illnesses. 

    Incorporates preventive healthcare and chronic disease management sensitive to language barriers, economic factors, and health beliefs.
     

    Designed to meet culturally specific needs but in a flexible and affordable system.

    Implemented through special curricula that were developed collaboratively with Indian Health Service nurses.
     

    Nurses have access to these curricula without significant travel, expense, or time commitments via the Internet or video presentations.

    This program is packaged as a video presentation with three learning modules. Each module has four video presentations lasting approximately 30 to 40 minutes or an online module involving 30 minutes to 1 hour.
