These modules prepare you to see and appreciate the world from a different perspective. 

  • Concepts from this theory allow us to explore specific aspects of nursing care that occur outside our "worldview". 
  • Concepts from this theory become tools we use to better understand a specific culture.
  • Concepts from this theory allow us to develop specific nursing interventions which are most effective given the specific culture.
The elements of Care in the Native American Community revolve around:

Respect for self and others
Awareness of own cultural values
Cultural sensitivity through openness and honesty
Establishment of trust slowly
LISTEN
