Abstract The Effects of Self-Esteem on NCLEX Success Julie F. Crary 1999 The purpose of this study was to assess the correlation between self-esteem and success on the NCLEX. This was evaluated with comparison of the TSCS:2 self-esteem scores and NCLEX results. Maslow’s hierarchy and Sister Roy’s theory of Adaptation served as the conceptual framework for the study. The sample was 43 students who returned the required forms and NCLEX scores. A descriptive correlational research design was utilized and statistical computation utilized was Kendall’s Tau. The study posed 5 research questions regarding the variables. There was no determination of significant correlation between self-esteem and success due to the small number of those subjects who failed (2). Other findings were a positive significance between academic self-esteem scores and GPA’s and a negative significance between age and academic achievements.
