Abstract Comparison of Critical Thinking Abilities of Nursing Students from Different Educational Programs JoAnn Breyfogle 1988 The objectives of this study were to assess and compare the critical thinking of nursing students from associate degree nursing programs and baccalaureate degree nursing programs. Demographic data of the students generated variables that were also analyzed for interaction in the study. The subjects were nursing students enrolled in a baccalaureate and an associate degree nursing program in the Midwest and who completed their final course of study within three months of the survey. A standardized test, the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal, was utilized for data collection. Least squares analysis of variance was used to analyze the data. At a .05 level of significance the analysis revealed that baccalaureate degree nursing students scored significantly higher on the total score of the Critical Thinking Appraisal than associate degree nursing students. Demographic data of age, sex, marital, employment, and student status were not statistically significant.
