Nursing Student Socialization

Nursing Student Socialization.

The following is a recommendation from the Professional Socialization Task Force convened to address in Spring 2004..

Professional behavior is an expectation of this class. Courtesies associated with professional behavior include:

  • Come to class and clinical on time and remain the entire class/clinical.

  • Arrive to each class prepared and be present, alert, and motivated to learn during the entire time.

  • Keep all verbal and nonverbal communication appropriate.

  • Turn off cell phones and pagers during class.

  • Minimize noisy distractions with backpacks, books, drinking, and eating.

  • Be considerate of your classmates so they can hear and concentrate.

  • Follow laptop etiquette.

It is also recommended by the Task Force that faculty add the above statement or a modified statement to course syllabi and review these expectations with students at the first class.
