RAPID CITY NURSING RESOURCE LAB
COMPUTER LAB POLICY The student computer lab (rm.21) is open each day from 8am to 4:30pm. A scanner is located in the student computer lab and available for both graduate and undergraduate student use. Additional assisted hours some weekends and evenings depend on work-study availability. Assisted and unassisted hours are posted. The graduate computer, and printer are located in room #17. A key must be checked out with SDSU office personnel for this room. Help is available to students who need assistance either from the Computer Support Technician, the Resource Lab Coordinator or the work-study student if he/she is working. Each student and faculty must attend computer orientation. Orientation is provided for each incoming class. A variety of programs are available. If the course you take requires CAI (computer assisted instruction) you will need to familiarize yourself with the programs. No programs are to be loaded onto or removed from the computers without contacting the Computer Support Technologist or the Resource Lab Coordinator. NURSING EQUIPMENT Community health bags and other nursing equipment are in the storeroom next to office #10. Students must check out all equipment with the Resource lab Coordinator. The check out period is for 48 hours only. If students are to check out community health bags for class, they may be checked out for the entire semester. Check out sheets are in the file box on the counter. The bags are very expensive. They will be inventoried when they are returned to lab. Students are responsible for damages and/or loss of equipment and supplies. Any kits, gowns, or other equipment or supplies which are distributed at the beginning of the semester must be turned in to the lab at the end of each semester. VIDEOTAPES There are two video viewing rooms available (Rooms 25 & 27) adjacent to the Resource Lab on the lower level; students are also allowed to view videos in the student lounge and library. Assigned videos are in the drawer located outside room #10 in the lab hallway. Students are not allowed to take videotapes out of the building. Students may reserve time on the schedules posted outside of the rooms. Videotapes are valuable and must be handled with extreme care Reviewed: December 2004
