BROOKINGS NURSING RESOURCE LAB
1. Request for equipment
*Request and reserve equipment and teaching
materials and models before they are needed.
*Complete request form as soon as you know
the date equipment will be needed. Advance requests are to your advantage. Equipment
is available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
*The borrower is responsible for any loss
or damage to equipment. When materials are lost or damaged, the replacement
cost or repair fee will be charged to the user. Students should not loan
equipment to other individuals, groups, or organizations.

2. Nursing Equipment Check out System
*Nursing equipment may be checked out or returned
in NFA 346. Office hours are 8-5 Monday thru Friday. Included in the signing
out of equipment is your name, phone number, course number, date and number
indicated on each piece of equipment. Before any equipment can be checked
out, the student needs to sign the laboratory equipment/supply checkout release
form. *There is a variety of equipment available.
Please check with the on campus lab coordinator for a list of current resources.
3. Returning equipment
*Return equipment in the same condition you
checked out. *Return items as soon as you are finished
using them. This will make them available for check out to other nursing
students. *When returning equipment write date returned
on sign-out sheet and leave equipment with personnel. * All equipment must be returned at the end
of each semester. Grades will be withheld until equipment is returned.
4. Posters and Educational Pamphlets
*Posters and educational pamphlets are available
for check out to nursing students in NFA 155. *Please sign out posters by using the identification
letters and numbers on the back of each poster. *Pamphlets are available for distribution,
if there are multiple copies in the files. Always leave one copy in the
file for reference. *A computer listing of all videos is found in room NFA
146.
5. Nursing Learning Lab Room 306
*Please return equipment to the location you
found it. Also, place the correct numbered equipment in the corresponding
holder. *Please return beds to the way you found them
by straightening linens and placing over-bed tables over the beds.
*Straighten tables and chairs, dispose of
trash, rewind cords on equipment, erase boards and turn off lights before
you leave the room. *If apiece of equipment has been broken or
needs repair please attach a note of explanation and give to personnel
in NFA 346B.
6. Policy on needles in nursing skills lab
*Containers with supplies for injections and
IV practice are located in NFA 346B. Each container has a number
and each student will be assigned a number. These containers are
to be used only in the skill lab. *Students are to dispose of needles in the
sharp disposal container.
Audiovisual equipment:
The classrooms NFA 208, 238, 332 and 344 are
Smart classrooms. The smart classrooms have the following equipment: Elmo,
VCR, computer/Internet access, Laserdisc, and CD-ROM.
For use of audiovisual equipment off campus, follow these guidelines:
1. The following equipment can be checked
out: slide projectors, laptops, LCD projectors, video cameras with tripods,
10 inch video pre-viewers, Polaroid cameras, student computer programs
on disks or CDs, books and videos.
2. Schedule at least two days in advance of
use and provide pick up date and return date on the Instructional Media
and Equipment Request Form. Leave this form in the Learning Lab office
(NFA 346). Also at this time if you are in need of training on the use
of the equipment, please relay this information to the personnel in office
and set up a time for the training.
3. The student is responsible for picking
up and returning the equipment. Please return equipment as soon as possible.
Damage or loss is the responsibility of the borrower.
4. Video use will depend upon availability
and site used. Certain videos can only used on the Brookings campus while
others can be used off campus for SAF families or for off campus class
projects. The length of check out time will be one day to one week.
RULES FOR NURSING
STUDENTS COMPUTER LAB
(NFA 146)
1. No food or drink is allowed in the
computer lab.
2. Hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This lab
is to be monitored by a College of Nursing work-study student and/or faculty during these times.
3. All computer disks must be scanned
for viruses by the attendant before use.
4. All copies printed will cost five
cents per page and must be paid at the time of printing.
5. Report any computer/printer problems
to the attendant on duty.

Laboratory Equipment/Supply Checkout Release
I will accept responsibility for the use of the SDSU College
of Nursing laboratory equipment/supplies. In hte event an item(s) is lost,
stolen, or damaged while issued to me, I agree to replace said item(s) at my
expense.
An (I) Incomplete grade will be assigned for
the course until restitution is made.

This signed form must be on file in the office of Nursing
Student Services and is in force during the time that the individual is enrolled
in the Nursing Major at SDSU. Students who do not sign the form will be
ineligible to check out equipment/supplies from the College of Nursing.
