Course Objectives

Environmental Psychology is the study of the relationship between humans and the natural and built environment. Traditionally, the emphasis in environmental psychology has been on how human behavior, feelings, and well-being are impacted by the environment.  Currently there is an increased emphasis on how humans impact natural environments.  This course will examine the theories guiding research in this field and review the research as it applies to topics such as effects of weather and climate on behavior, urban and rural environments, crowding, and personal space.

The primary goals of this course are (1) to introduce you to the psychological research on the interaction of humans and environments and (2) to help you to apply critical thinking skills to this research.   This coourse meets IGR Goal #1--Land and Natural Resources--for student using the 2005-2006 bulletin.
