Upcoming Events: IRC Officers Election (2008-2009)

The International Relations Club (IRC) is an umbrella organization that oversees the student fee disbursement for organized clubs and unorganized International students at South Dakota State University.

Through various public events, the IRC is directly involved with multicultural diversity and the improvement of relations and understanding between International students and Americans. In academic year 2007-2008, there were 250 international students representing 32 countries, registered for courses and research programs.

From the academic year 2000-2001, the IRC is teaming up with University Diversity Council in organizing the events for the University Community. Recognized and organized clubs and associations affiliated with IRC include the:

  • African Student Association

  • Nepalese Student Association

  • Bangladesh Student Association

  • Chinese Student Association

  • Indian Student Association

  • Islamic Student Association

  • Japanese Student Association

  • Malaysian Student Association

In addition, the IRC also represents our international students’ body; that is, those students who are not affiliated with an organized club. This latter group of students spans a wide diversity of nationalities and cultures, including Europeans (e.g., Great Britain, Germany, Russia, Romania, and Turkey), Asians (e.g., Taiwan, Thailand, Jordan, and Oman), African (e.g., Egypt, Zimbabwe), Kenya, Somalis, and South Africa etc.
