Math Department Textbooks

Students are expected to have the appropriate textbook available for use on the first day of class.  In order to assist you with this, below is a list of required textbooks for each math class.  These books are available in the University Bookstore.  Look for textbooks at the bookstore at this site: http://www.sdstatebookstore.com/

If you choose to purchase books elsewhere, please heed these tips:

 1) Purchase the correct edition (for example: 3rd edition). If there is no edition listed, it is assumed to be the first edition.

2)  Do not get an Instructor’s edition.  Some have more answers than a student book; others have fewer!  Students who purchase instructor’s editions, usually find them annoying.

3)  If your course requires an on-line homework system, this is usually packaged with a new book at the Bookstore.  If you purchase a used book, you will need to purchase access to the on-line system separately. This is often available for purchase with a credit card on line.

4)  If you are buying software, make sure it is current and unused.
